The opening ceremony for Sichuan Province’s tourism promotion campaign themed “Beautiful China, More Than Pandas” took place December 15 in Chengdu’s Qingbaijiang District.
Organized by the Sichuan Provincial Tourism Development Committee, the event, aimed to further integrate into the development of the Belt and Road and create new opportunities for the travel sector in the province, will be conducted in the countries along the Belt and Road.
As of December 4, the Chengdu International Railway Port in Qingbaijiang had seen 777 outings of Chengdu-Europe express rail cargo trains, which accounted for nearly one third of China's total. The rail service has involved 11 major European railway hubs including Prague and Tilburg.
At the ceremony, there was a train painted with the patterns of the giant panda, which is meant to attract more overseas tourists to the city of Chengdu.
